Prescription strength permethrin (5%) is used as a topical treatment for mild or severe scabies infestations. Permethrin targets the nerve cells of the parasite killing the parasite, and will continue to exert activity after rinsing ensuring the infestation is gone. This formulation may be used in combination with oral treatments for severe or difficult infestations.
